Jonah’s Recent Art

19 Aug

We’ve been doing at least one “ar projek” a week, and sometimes, they’re not making they’re way onto the 365 blog. So here are a few of the projects we’ve done for our letter of the week. Once we’ve already done the letter, if he asks to do another project later on in the week, we make something else that starts with the letter of the week so we have more opportunity to talk about that letter and what sound it makes etc. I got most of the ideas for these projects from http://www.notimeforflashcards.com

Easter 2009

11 Apr

Here are the pictures from our trip to the farm from this weekend. We saw horses and cows (which I don’t have pics of unfortunately) and chickens. We played on the trampoline, in the flower bed, and went fishing. We dyed eggs and had all sorts of fun at Granny and Papa’s House. I’ll update this album tomorrow (Sunday) hopefully, with pictures from the rest of our Easter festivities. See More Pictures Here!

Updated on Monday 4/13/09 – We didn’t get a picture of us all dressed up this year because we were running late before church, and Jonah spilled juice all over his outfit on the way home from church, so it all had to come off then. We did get some pictures of Jonah hunting Easter eggs at the party we went to last night. One of Jason’s co-workers had a Easter potluck dinner that we went to and I was really surprised how well Jonah did looking for the eggs outside (his first outdoors egg hunt) with all the other kids. In all the hub-bub of the day, we really didn’t have a good opportunity to give Jonah his Easter Basket, so we did that today when Jason got home from work.

In the future, I think we’ll give it to him on Easter Saturday morning. I’d rather make a distinct difference in what each of the different parts of Easter are about… like that the typical fun Easter Saturday traditions (dying eggs, eating candy, egg hunts, bunnies, chicks, and what not) are about celebrating the beginning of spring and not try to intertwine it with the religious aspects of Easter Sunday. I want Easter Sunday have its own traditions that are reverent and give thanks to our Savior and what He’s done for us… like dressing in our Sunday best, sharing meals with friends or family, and like how our church does this flower cross thing… where people bring fresh cut flowers to put in the wire mesh cross in the atrium all morning and by the end of the last service, the cross is fully covered in flowers. Jonah even put one in it this year! I feel like trying to make some sort of connection between rabbit handing out colored chicken eggs filled with candy and the crucifixion on the cross is just ridiculous and that the two should be separate from each other. So they happen on the same weekend, yes, but not the same day. I wish there was a good way to separate Christmas like that too. I think the fun family/cultural traditions are good to have, but I think kids need to learn what is “just a fun tradition” and what is “biblically relevant” for the different holidays. Anyway… that just became a really long rambling rant I guess. Congrats if you read this far and aren’t plucking your eyeballs out! ;) hehe

Needing Side Money

19 Sep

With the new baby on the way, and foundation and plumbing repairs that need to be paid for, we need to find a way to bring in some side income. I am pretty crafty, so I am thinking I should attempt to sell my services. If you are interested in buying some of my crafts or using my services, PLEASE email me at amandapace7@hotmail.com because we could certainly use the business! I can’t just go out and get a job because the day care cost would eat away most of the money I made, so I really need to do something from home. Here are a few of the ideas I’ve had of things I might be able to do for you:

  • Photo Cards – Christmas Cards, Baby Announcements & Party Invitations that you can have printed.
  • Photography – I can even come take the pictures for you, for above mentioned cards with my nice new camera!
  • Digital Scrapbook Pages – that you can either print out or save on the computer.
  • Traditional Scrabooking – any level of assitance you need, from taking your photos and putting it all together myself, to just creating “crop and drop” pages where all you have to do is add the pictures and journaling.
  • Miniature Scrapbooks/Brag Books – great Christmas gift idea for grandparents!
  • Handmade Greeting Cards
  • Unique Christmas Stockings
  • Random Sewing Tasks – curtains, pillows, and other crafty things.
  • Halloween Costumes - to some extent (I obviously won’t have time to make a really elaborate costume before Halloween gets here.)
  • Anything else crafty that you think I might be able to help you with!
  • Design/decorating/home improvement advice. I can also actually DO a lot of woodworking and home improvement projects. I can’t do a lot of painting right now because the fumes wouldn’t be good for the baby, but there’s still a giant realm of possibilites out there!

Please keep me in mind while you’re preparing for the holiday season! I’d love to contribute a little money to our family funds!

In the meantime, I’ll be working on creating a library of graphics that I can use for my digital crafts (like the scrapbooking and photo cards). I have recreated this set from the Shabby Princess website today (to avoid copyright infringement) and would love to start making some one some christmas cards!

Holiday Magic

I can use these elements to make a unique Christmas card for you and your family this year!

Update: Here is another set I recreated today:

The second set I have recreated for you to choose from if you would like me to make a card.
